Fire
is beautiful.
Dancing and crackling and
proudly flaunting it's colors.
But fire
is dangerous.
Touch it
and you will jerk away
in pain
and wonder how such brightness
can hurt so much.

Nature
is beautiful.
Wild and free and
bright and colorful and
slow and quiet, all at once.
But nature
is dangerous.
Claws and teeth and
bright eyes
Wild beauty that is easy
to lose yourself in.

Love is beautiful,
or so I have been told.
It makes people happy and
completes them
and they write songs about it.
But love
is dangerous.
It breaks hearts and
kills hope and
sometimes makes you wish
you had never found it.

Beauty is dangerous.
We see it and
we want it.
We will do anything to
have our own beauty,
to be beautiful.
But we think that beauty means
changing ourselves,
being the same as
everyone else.
Why?

Can't you see
there's beauty in being
different?
There is beauty in
being the only flower
growing between the crack
in the concrete.
There is beauty in
changing and adapting
but on your own terms,
not when people tell you to.

Beauty is only dangerous
if you let it be.
Don't let it hurt you.
This is coming from someone who insists she isn't pretty . . . weird, I know. I just felt like writing. :)

I really, really like this. I like how you go from saying is beautiful to saying it's dangerous; it's really clever! :)
